Penn's Village has
a growing menu of services, all member-driven. Members' needs determine
the services available. No need or desire is too small or too large.
Our goal is to be a "Volunteer First" organization. Carefully
screened volunteers provide many of Penn's Village services at no
additional cost to our members. If a volunteer is not available,
arrangements can be made for services to be provided by carefully
vetted providers. Services will be provided by these providers often
at specially negotiated rates. Members may opt to receive services
solely through providers or decline services when a volunteer is
not available.. "Our member's wish is our priority."

Transportation
Individual and group rides to the grocery store, doctor's office,
airport, friend’s home, cultural events and other local destinations.
Penn's Village Meals
If preparing nutritious meals has become a burden or chore, Penn's Village can deliver high-quality, visually appealing foods prepared from the freshest ingredients. Menu items range from heart healthy comfort foods such as turkey meatloaf to sophisticated dishes such as teriyaki salmon with ginger. Volunteers will deliver freshly prepared meals to your home once a week. These meals can be consumed immediately, refrigerated for 3-4 days or frozen for another time. Nutritionists oversee the preparation of each meal and can work with Penn's Village to accommodate our members specific medical dietary needs. We can also accommodate several personal and religious preferences such as no pork, seafood or beef. For members with chewing or swallowing issues, dental soft or pureed meals are available. Household Services
Home repair and adaptation, assistance with house cleaning, home
maintenance, errands, organization of closets and drawers, packing
and mailing packages, computer problem solving, in-home computer
training, bill paying, home-delivered meals.
Convenience Services
Pick up a prescription, groceries or dry cleaning, change a light
bulb, hang curtains, rearrange furniture, wait for a repair person,
take in computer for repair, water plants or pick up mail during
a vacation, stock refrigerator after long vacation, bring car in
for repairs, take out the trash, pet services, sweeping or shoveling
sidewalks, regular check-ins or look-in’s for those with relatives
in distant city’s or even close by, shop for a present for
a friend or family members, discounts at local businesses.
Health Services
Assistance with access and care at both Pennsylvania and
Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals and the physicians associated
with each institution , referrals to preferred nursing and home care
agencies, companion care, explanation of medical benefits, information
on prescriptions, exercise classes and personal training, and in
depth home assessment completed by the Living Laboratory at Thomas
Jefferson University Hospital.
Social and Cultural Activities
Regular trips and activities, travel adventures for individuals and
groups, educational seminars, dining groups, book clubs.
Information Services
If you have a question or problem, we'll help locate the answer or
solve problem.
Volunteer Programs
Opportunities to help members of our community.
All of the above services are included in your annual membership fee when they are completed by a volunteer. When a volunteer is not available, we will arrange for a preferred service provider to complete the request.
(Delivery of Penn's Village Meals is included in membership, however price of food in not included.) |
When volunteers are unavailable or when a member prefers a using
a preferred service provider, Penn's Village will make arrangements for services
to be provided by one of our preferred service providers. Many providers
offer Penn's Village members specially negotiated rates. Vetted
Service Providers include appliance repair, plumbers, electricians, contractors,
handymen, gardeners, pet caretakers, home health nursing agencies,
personal care agencies and hospice.
As members ask for services for which we do not have a preferred
service provider, we select a new one based on thoughtful vetting.
