Golda Meir-True Grit

With Author Ann Atkins

Monday March 12th, 2018 at 10:30 AM

March is Women's History Month and Penn’s Village has invited Ann Atkins back to tell us about another courageous woman.  Friends of Penn’s Village were enthralled with Ann’s insights into the life and character of Eleanor Roosevelt and now we will learn about the rebellious Golda Meir.

Born in Midwest America and moving to the Middle East, Golda Meir believed that all people can live in peace and with dignity.  She fought for equal pay and education for the Arabs and Jews in Palestine, hospitals and housing for Africans, and signed the Declaration of Independence for the rebirth of Israel.

We will meet in the Atheneum, 219 South 6th Street.  The handicapped entrance is at the rear of the building.

RSVP by emailing info@pennsvillage.org or calling 215-925-7333.   There is no charge for Penn’s Village members and volunteers.  We would appreciate a $5 donation from other guests.  Other guests are welcome to attend three programs before becoming a member and/or volunteering.
