What Can Go Wrong With the Brain?

Find out at the Mutter Museum

Tuesday, April 23, 2019

10 AM – 12 PM

Have you ever gone past the Mütter Museum and wondered what is inside? Or felt too ill-at-ease to go see for yourself? This is your chance to find out in the good company of fellow Penn’s Village members and guestsand with guidance from the Museum’s education staff.

We will have a guided tour of the Museum and a special class focused on The Brain: More Than Just Gray Matter! In the class we’ll learn what different parts of the brain do, talk about various diseases of and injuries to the brain, and in a tour, we will see some specimens of those brain anomalies. We’ll learn the history of the anatomy of the human brain through specimens and models, and the medicine that’s been used to heal it.

Please note:
> No backpack or purse that can be worn on your back are allowed
> There are no storage facilities for your personal items at the Museum
> Food and drink are not allowed in the Museum
Cost is $21.00/person for Penn’s Villagers, and $26.00/person for general public

We will meet at The Mutter Museum, 19 South 22nd Street at 10 AM. Please register by emailing info@pennsvillage.org or by calling 215-925-7333. An email prior to the event will include details on how to prepay.

The Museum is wheelchair accessible at the east entrance of the building, on Van Pelt Street (which runs directly behind the Museum, parallel to 21st and 22nd Streets). At the right of the glass door marked “College of Physicians of Philadelphia," you will see an intercom speaker and talk button. Press the button, and when someone responds, say that you are visiting the Museum and need access. Someone will come to assist you.
