Next Up: Strategies for Your Future

Monday, January 13, 2020, 2 p.m.

Mady Prowler and Dick Goldberg, who between them have more than fifteen years’ experience helping older adults figure out their next steps, will co-facilitate a conversation about ideas for what to do with your life in its next phase... whether looking for a job, pursuing an “encore” career, thinking about who you are now— and how to become the “new” you.

  • How do you go about deciding what really has meaning for you?
  • What resources do you need to do this?
  • What are some potential obstacles and what are strategies for over-
    coming them?

These and other important questions ... and your questions about mapping your future, following that map, and making adjustments to it ... will be what Mady, Dick, and all of us talk about.

As the Assistant Director at the "Coming of Age" program at Temple University, Mady facilitated and trained adults interested in exploring their futures. More recently, she was the Operation Manager for a respite program that provided resources and action-steps for family members caring for their elders at home. Mady has worked in volunteer programs throughout the city's schools and in social services and has received a B.S. in Education, a B.A. in History and an M.S.W. in Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dick is the former national director of Coming of Age, the national older adult civic engagement initiative now based at New York's Presbyterian Senior Services. He is also a Guggenheim fellow and the author of Family Business, which ran a year off-Broadway and was a Burns-Mantle Best Play.

The program will be at the First Presbyterian Church: 201 So. 21st Street, Philadelphia, PA  19103; MacColl Room. The entrance is on 21st Street. There is an elevator for handicapped accessibility. Please let us know in advance if this is needed.

This program is free for Penn’s Village members, volunteers and donors. Guests are welcome to attend up to three programs before being required to join and/or volunteer with Penn's Village. If you attend as a guest, there is a $10. fee for each program.

Please RSVP online by email  info@pennsvillage.org or by phone (215) 925-7333.  Please cancel if you are unable to make your reservation so there will be room for others.

Penn’s Village supports and actively encourages a diverse and inclusive community of members, staff, Board of Directors and volunteers.
