My General Tubman

Penn’s Village has reserved a block of twenty seats for the 2:00 pm production of My General Tubman at the Arden Theater (40 N. 2nd Street) on Sunday, March 1. A world premiere by acclaimed Philadelphia author Lorene Cary, My General Tubman is a beautiful and exciting new play about the complex journey of Harriet Tubman and the impact she continues to have today.

From MSN News: We've all heard the stories about Tubman and her involvement with the Underground Railroad, saving the lives of many enslaved people while risking her own multiple times to do so. But what many people forget is that, although Tubman is the brave soul, we have all learned about in history class and in books, she was also a human being with mortal feelings—she loved, she was frightened and, at times, was even vulnerable.”

Tickets are $35.00 each. To secure a spot, send a check made out to Penn’s Village, to Penn’s Village, 201 S. 21st Street, Phila., PA 19103 by February 13. You may also bring a check made out to Penn’s Village to our Town Hall on January 28. Members should feel free to join others for an optional dinner (and will self-pay) after the play at Positano Coast, 212 Walnut Street, 2nd floor.  We have reserved a table. Please let us know by February 21st if you plan to join us at the restaurant.
