Chester Springs Creamery and Milky Way Farm
It’s Pick Your Own Pumpkin time at Milky Way Farm. The corn maze is open and hayrides to the pumpkin patch are arriving every few minutes. For those preferring a stroll, there is a pumpkin-lined path from the parking lot to the pumpkin patch. Milky Way is a working farm and attuned to kids of all ages. There are animals to see, sheep, goats, ducks, pigs and of course, cows. There is an attended place for safe petting and plenty of hand sanitizer for hand-washing afterward.
Milky Way Farm is a fourth-generation dairy farm owned by the Matthews family. It occupies a beautiful part of Chester County on route 113 in Lionville, PA. The cows graciously donate their milk to make the delicious ice cream served in The Creamery. The staff will gladly give you a taste to help you decide on a flavor. My personal indulgence is peanut butter fudge, although I’ve been known to stray into chocolate supreme or coffee. For the really hungry, there are milkshakes and sundaes.
Milky Way Farm is a wonderful open space in a rapidly developing county. On summer evenings, it is the perfect spot for dessert and sunsets. The open land affords a view of the way the county was. It is a reminder of having time to take a drive just to get ice cream. This is old fashion fun, inviting you to slow down, sit on the porch and savor the flavors.
