Robert Uris will read the classic poem "
Casey at the Bat: A Ballad of the Republic Sung in the Year 1888,” first published in
The San Francisco Examiner and later popularized in many vaudeville performances. He will follow that up with “
Casey – Twenty Years Later,” the story of what happened to our friend Casey as he was casually enjoying a game of baseball — from the grandstands. Next, Dante Murphy will read "
The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County," the 1865 short story by Mark Twain. The story was his first commercial success as a writer and brought him national attention.
