How To Prepare For Emergencies At Home
The Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management wants you and your neighbors to be prepared for any kind of emergency. Why? Because emergencies happen.
In the City of Philadelphia, flooding is the number one natural hazard that we face, but according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, only 43% of households have preparedness plan for hazardous flooding.
This READYHome workshop will provide easy-to-follow tips on how develop an emergency plan, that includes taking care of family members with disabilities, pets, and sheltering in place. You will also learn about READYPhiladelphia, Philadelphia’s emergency text and email alert system.
As Community Resilience Coordinator for the Office of Emergency Management,
Joshua Nussbaum
supports long-term community planning and increased disaster resilience throughout Philadelphia. He has over a decade of experience in the mental/behavioral health field, and most recently was a response planner for the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disability Services (DBHIdS). Joshua holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biopsychology from Messiah College and a Master’s Degree in Emergency Management from the University of New Haven.
