Duty"

During his career as a prosecutor, former Assistant U.S. AttorneyHoward Wiener has noticed that people have often found the many parts of jury duty to be aggravating and frustrating. From a potential juror's perspective, jury duty can seem like a long, interminable, and obscure process. Because those called to serve on a jury rarely understand what’s happening behind the scenes over the course of the day, there is seemingly a lot of wasted time. This lecture from Howard Wiener will take people behind the scenes during those long waits and educate/enlighten you about the processes taking place. You’ll leave with a new understanding and appreciation for this civic duty!

Howard Wiener is a retired career prosecutor (Assistant U.S. Attorney) with the Department of Justice. He has handled many kinds of cases and numerous trials over his career. He has lectured to fellow prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and law students. He has also given talks at senior citizen centers and a business forum on how to avoid being a fraud and cybercrime victim. In the interest of full disclosure, he admits he is biased, having met his wife on jury duty.
