About this event
For over 35 years the Legal Clinic for the Disabled has provided high quality free legal services to individuals and their families in the Philadelphia region with disabilities or mental health diagnoses. Since 1989, LCD has worked to remove legal barriers that threaten health, safety, independence, and quality of life. Through direct representation, community education, and innovative medical-legal partnerships, LCD assists clients with critical issues such as housing, public benefits, family law, advance planning, and protection from abuse. With the support of dedicated staff and volunteers, LCD empowers individuals to live with dignity and security while fostering a more just and inclusive community. Come learn about the mission of LCD and explore opportunities to engage with us.
Bio of presenter: Ellen Shimberg has over 25 years’ experience working in the non-profit space. Her most recent work was in the Middle East where she worked on health care initiatives promoting cross border cooperation between Palestinians and Israelis. Desperately missing diner breakfasts and Villa di Roma meatballs, she returned to Philadelphia to engage communities on a grass roots level.
