Choosing to stay in your home as you age can be a big decision. Creating and maintaining a safe environment can be a key to keeping you in your home. There are small changes you can make to keep you safe, make it easier to move and prevent falls. Welcome Home Wellness and Birdwatch will walk Penn’s Village participants through multiple spaces in a home to discuss finding hazards and potential solutions for them. Each participant will leave with a home checklist to help review the safety of their own home.

Jennifer Ellis and Carolyn Murphy are both doctors of physical therapy and co-owners of Welcome Home Wellness, a concierge mobile Physical Therapy practice located here in Center City. Welcome Home Wellness provides high quality outpatient level care in the comfort of your own home, gym and community. In addition to traditional therapy, Welcome Home Wellness provides home safety evaluations as well as wellness sessions. With nearly 30 years of collective experience, Jennifer Ellis and Carolyn Murphy are Neurologic Certified Physical Therapists who focus on geriatric and neurological rehabilitation.

Chris Rosenbaum is the CEO of Birdwatch and a local homeowner. He co-founded Birdwatch to help homeowners love the homes they are in. Birdwatch is a membership based local organization that covers a wide range of home services, from general maintenance and repairs to more specialized tasks. Their staff are competent carpenters, plumbers, and technicians who members know by name. They provide a broad range of plans from preventative maintenance to seasonal plans. Lisa Sydney, Local Partnership Manager, provides additional support to members in Philadelphia to understand the opportunities that Birdwatch can provide to prospective members.
