Becoming a Volunteer
Ready to make a meaningful difference as a Penn’s Village volunteer?
First, identify which type of volunteer role fits you. Then follow the steps below—some steps apply to all volunteers, and some apply only to roles that involve direct member support.
🟦 For All Volunteers
(Committee members, office support, writers, event help, and other behind-the-scenes roles)
1. Complete the Volunteer Interest Form
Share your interests, skills, and availability.

2. Meet with Our Volunteer Team
Have a brief conversation with one of our intake volunteers to discuss how you’d like to get involved.
3. Sign Confidentiality Agreement
All volunteers sign a Volunteer Confidentiality Agreement to protect member privacy.
4. Get Oriented & Read Volunteer Handbook
Participate in a brief orientation and receive our Volunteer Handbook 2026.
🟩 For Volunteers Working Directly With Members
(In-home services, companions, errands, and transportation support)
In addition to the steps above, volunteers providing direct member support complete the following:
5. Provide References
Submit two references (personal or professional).
6. Complete Required Agreements & Background Check
Complete a background check and sign the Member Rights & Responsibilities Agreement.
7. Meet Transportation Requirements (if applicable)
Volunteers providing transportation—either driving members or accompanying them on public transit—must provide a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and agree to a driving record check (Transportation volunteers only).
