HomeZoo 2018

New at the Zoo

With Docent Arleen Dascola

Tuesday October 16, 2018

Each year as we visit the Zoo we highlight the newest additions to the Nation’s first.  This year we have baby giraffe Beau, born on June10, Penguin Point, the new larger home for the colony of Humboldt penguins, twenty two strong, Otter Falls featuring an oversized slide to delight the otters and us and Red Panda Pass with a winding maze of overhead bridges and tunnels.

We will also visit Solitude,  the home of John Penn grandson of William.  Solitude is not open to the public so this will be a special treat.

Friends of Penn’s Village have gotten to know and appreciate Arleen, who is also a guide at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Reservations are limited to 20 and required, so please RSVP early by emailing info@pennsvillage.org.  If emailing is difficult call 215 925 7333.

We will meet at the lion statue outside of the entrance gate at 9:45 and the tour will begin at the elephant statue inside of the gate at 10:00 and last approximately one and one-half hours.  There will be a $20 cost for admission to the Zoo payable at the admission gate.  The Zoo is now checking pocketbooks.  Wear comfortable shoes (you may want sunglasses). The Zoo is handicap accessible. There are stairs in Solitude but we will surprise you with an alternative if climbing is not your thing.
