Safety Technology For Older Adults
By now you are aware of how much we use technology in our daily lives for communication and entertainment. But did you know that the same technology can be used to improve our health and personal safety, both at home and on the go?
Devices from medical alert buttons to smart phones and tablets can be used to track and dispense medications, monitor falls and request assistance, locate lost items, monitor shut-ins, and record and manage health indicators.
Join us as we explore the world of modern devices and applications that can improve the quality of life for older adults.
Our presenter, Caitlin McKenney, is from TechOWL – Technology for Our Whole Lives, which is a part of the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University. Ms. McKenney has seven years of experience in the field of special education, working with students who have multiple disabilities and complex access needs.
She holds a master’s degree in Assistive Technology Studies and Human Services from California State University at Northridge.
